So this is my first blog. I'm not really sure what exactly goes in a blog. But I thought I would take a picture and blog about it. There has been a lot of snow here in Ellensburg these past couple months, and it has been really cold. The past few days have been quite a bit warmer and because of that all the snow is melting. There has been flooding down in the valley. But luckily we live at a higher elevation, so all that we have is a new stream that runs through our front yard.
So the past few months have been tough around the farm, it has been really cold and most days I had to wait until at least noon when the spigot would thaw enough to run water. Then I have to haul it to the different animals. The geese and ducks had a hard time giving up their pond once it froze. They continued to sleep out in the middle of the frozen pond for at least a week after it froze solid. After a bit I bought a new rubber tub that was big enough for about one goose to bathe in at a time. For the last couple months thats about all they had. With the warming weather and flooding they have been having a great time playing in all the standing water around the property. So my heart goes out to the people who have flooding damaging their homes and businesses, but here on the farm the water fowl are loving it. Plus I love not having to do chores in freezing weather, especially not at 37 weeks pregnant.
